Yiri T. Kohl was born on a Thursday at 3.21 in 1975. He fell on his head when he was a kid and has been acting strangely ever since. At the age of five, he committed to being an artist, much to his parents' delight. Yiri shares his life with comic artist Margreet de Heer. Together, they more or less manage a world of ongoing projects, an Amsterdam apartment, and two cats.

Earlier this week saw the premiere of Whirly Girls: four compositions focus on influential women during the period of 1900 – 1950. These compositions are the result of a collaboration of Electra and Renske Vrolijk with composers Lucas Wiegerink, Vanessa Lann, and last but not least, my good friend Michiel Mensingh. His composition Guns n' Rosie, for which I provided him with lyrics, deals with the subject of women at work in the American war economy.

This july look out for Pulpman #3. Appearing every six weeks or so, Pulpman is comic artist Fred de Heij's answer to the excessive use of the buzzwords 'graphic novel', and all it's pretentiousness. Pulpman takes comics back to their pulpy roots, and provides you with Quality Pulp.

Amongst the proud guest-artists in this third issue: Yiri T. Kohl! Available in comic-book stores in the Netherlands, as well as directly from the publisher, Uitgeverij Xtra.

On Friday, February 6th, the comics collection Bijlmerboys Omnibus by Yiri T. Kohl will be presented at Galerie Lambiek. This collection contains the first four issues of the series, which appeared in the 1990s, as well as a preview of the fifth issue, which will be published later this year.

The Bijlmerboys - Rembo, Dave & Roeltje - use a lot of chemicals to cope with a fantastic, hilarious and sometimes frightening world. The first issue of Bijlmerboys appeared in 1993. This collection shows the development in drawing skills - as well as an increasing use of black ink.
